Figured Out

Tracy Chapman + Michael Jackson = The Weeknd

I guess we all boast influences from one source or the next, but I’ve (lately) never come to realize one so specifically precise as this………….and I liiiiiik…uh………..loooooooooove it. And I love it.

Truth is, I don’t think life has to be figured out, but exploration simply feels necessary in order to keep us all afloat. Would you rather pray for the turbulent winds to brush your raft along, or would you rather sail in silence for fear of movement? Would you loooove it?

Now/Then

“I would at times feel that learning to read had been a curse rather than a blessing. It had given me a view of my wretched condition, without the remedy. It opened my eyes to the horrible pit, but to no ladder upon which to get out. In moments of agony, I envied my fellow‐slaves for their stupidity. I have often wished myself a beast. I preferred the condition of the meanest reptile to my own. Anything, no matter what, to get rid of thinking! It was this everlasting thinking of my condition that tormented me. There was no getting rid of it. It was pressed upon me by every object within sight or hearing, animate or inanimate.”

-Mr. Frederick Douglass

…starting to echo some of his sentiments, as of late.

Washed My Sins Away

Although I never thought I’d actually even begin to contemplate this, I am starting to entertain the idea of starting another blog solely dedicated to theology. I a lot of people see this subject as a heated one, but it doesn’t have to be. Peace in the middle east? I’m still thinkin’……

Uninhibited

Let’s run away from it all; venture unto vastness.

Sail to a deserted island and weather the unforgiving winds.

Lounge amid the forest alongside colorful wildlife.

“Reconnect” with our primal foundations as we feast on this sacred meal.

Bathe in lukewarm streams as they cascade from right above our heads.

Lie down to rest upon giant leaves; sweltering humidity for covers.

Forget what it’s like to be human; remember what it’s like to be alive.

Minimalism/Maximalism

-Need more/Desire less

-Trying too hard/Not trying hard enough

-Stuffed to the brim/Famished and parched

-More isn’t less/Less is more

So much to choose from, but is it necessary to have it all? Having it all until it’s necessary. Tell me more!………See me less.

A Summation of Sorts

In conjunction with my last post (somewhat), I’ve lately been thinking about isolation and its impact on the human psyche.  Often times, those who are kept from human contact are looked down upon; feelings of pity inevitably ensue.  However, if the “real world” is often thought of as being too stressful for most, shouldn’t people who are unable to be influenced be seen as ideal?  True understanding will only come when outsiders are finally seen as fellow human beings instead of exhibits to be studied and exploited.  More information about the inspiration behind this latest post can be found here.
